Visual Arts Summer Institute
Boston and suburbs, Massachusetts, New England/Northeast

The Visual Arts Summer Institute offers high school students an intensive four-week visual arts program modeled on the freshman foundation program at the Boston University School of Visual Arts. Whether preparing portfolios for college admission or simply working to improve their technical abilities, students are introduced to a full range of materials and methods used in professional artistic practice. VASI students follow a rigorous curriculum that includes drawing, painting, sculpture, new media and printmaking, and all students are provided with individual studio spaces. The VASI faculty is drawn from the faculty of the School of Visual Arts and is comprised of committed artists who are exceptional teachers. In addition to classes and studio time, students visit and study works of art in area museums, participate in special workshops, and experience summer in Boston. Students earn three college credits at the program’s completion.
