Europe

The Barat Foundation has been traveling to the South of France for 18 years, bringing students to study the French language, art, and culture with renowned educators. The Summer Program in Provence is our longest-running program, boasting hundreds of alumni whose lives were transformed by living and working together abroad. The program focuses on French language and art including workshops in: Photography, Studio Arts, Theatre, Music, Video, Film, Dance, Creative Writing, French Cuisine, and Fashion. In addition, we offer up to 40 hours of community service work. Welcome to the summer of your life! The experience of a lifetime awaits you in Provence. The Barat Foundation Summer Program provides a unique opportunity for total immersion in French language and culture. The sun-drenched region– which has long-inspired writers and travelers– will serve as your classroom. You will explore the wonders of Provence while speaking French with a talented young staff, hand-picked from the worlds of arts and academia. You will be living in Provence not as a tourist, but as a local, as you attend the spectacular summer festivals of Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, visit Van Gogh’s city of Arles, and shop at colorful open-air markets. You will visit the Camargue nature preserve and sunbathe along the shores of the Mediterranean. At the end of the day, you can linger at an open-air café or venture home to hang out with new friends. Your stay in Provence finds you at a fully equipped country estate with outdoor swimming pool. Our French teachers and staff will personally introduce you to France– its language, culture, history and art. Living in an international environment with students from all over the world, you will develop skills that prepare you for life in the global marketplace of the 21st Century, where cultural awareness is paramount.
