LITA provides authentic Spanish language immersion for high school students with a true sense of adventure and keen interest in cultural exchange and language acquisition. All of our trips are held in Spain during the summer. LITA is for students looking for an authentic and unique way to discover this amazing country. Our incredible relationships with local families, educators, artists and guides enable us to offer students a personalized and highly authentic cultural experience. Running Start is a nonpartisan nonprofit that trains young women to run for public office. We’re empowering young women to get involved in politics and transform our world, one elected female leader at a time. We offer programs that equip them with the hands on skills and confidence they need to run and win. With over 100 training programs across the country, we've trained over 20,000 women (and counting!). And because we're nonpartisan, we're achieving this in the spirit of fellowship while focusing on building stronger community for young women who want to lead. In a wide variety of settings, we explore these ideas and then put them into practice. Under the guidance of two capable and caring Overland leaders and surrounded by a fun and inclusive group, you'll hone your outdoors and leadership skills while backpacking, climbing, kayaking, rafting and canoeing. Our goal? Send you home ready to apply your deeper understanding of leadership and teamwork to life beyond Overland, beyond the outdoors and beyond the boundaries of a single summer.

From the French Alps to the Spanish Pyrenees to the Costa Rican rainforests, our language programs offer the perfect mix of instruction (and lots of it: daily three-hour classes led by dynamic native speakers), fun cultural experiences (exploring small towns and villages, monuments and markets), and active exploration (in France and Spain that means hiking... in Costa Rica, it's service). A supportive, wholesome group and two caring Overland leaders create an ideal environment for language learning and cultural understanding.

Writing clearly, effectively, persuasively—well, that’s a skill we all need. But how do you acquire that skill? For almost a decade, we have offered a writing camp on the Williams College campus that gives you an opportunity to improve your writing skills in a small class (12 students) with an experienced teacher. The class meets in the morning (when everyone is fresh) and works hard for three hours—a significant, sustained engagement with the coursework. We can’t write all day, so come the afternoon it’s time to get outside. And what an outside it is: the Berkshires and Vermont’s Green Mountains are ideal for hikes. Of course, the first hikes are shorter and easier, but working at it everyday soon increases everyone’s skills and fitness—yours, too.

Take the world into your arms. Experience a new culture, serve a community in need and explore an exotic landscape. Across the world, from the beaches of the Galápagos to the snows of Kilimanjaro and Patagonia, the opportunities for learning, service and adventure are endless. At the end of your time abroad, you will return home with a greater understanding and appreciation of the world, and your own place in it. Trips are 3 weeks long and open to 9-12 graders. Language learning and cultural immersion programs in Colombia, Ecuador and the Galapagos, France, Guadeloupe and Martinique, and Spain. Most of these programs are restricted to several grade levels. Some programs include a short homestay component.

Oxbridge is a rigorous, academically driven summer opportunity for students to take academic classes that involve experiential learning, cultural enrichment and imaginative teaching. Programs are offered all over the world and are approximately one month long. Programs are offered in a variety of locations including: Boston, New York, St. Andrews, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Paris, Oxford, and Cambridge (England.) Students choose two courses, one as a MAJOR course and one as a MINOR (WORKSHOP in New York, Boston, and at UCLA). Major courses meet six mornings a week and, depending on the course, include in-class time for fieldwork, labs, workshops, guest speakers, group discussions, and one-on-one instruction. They also include homework and require project and preparation time outside of class. Minor courses meet three afternoons a week, with no homework and all work contained within the class session. A Minor course offers a sample of a different subject than the Major and most students find their Minor a welcome opportunity to try a new subject for the first time.

Middle School programs in Costa Rica, Boulder, Colorado, France and Holland and Spain focusing on a variety of topics including culture, language learning, community service, outdoor adventure and more.

The Students on Ice Foundation educates the world’s youth about the importance of the Polar Regions, supports them in their continued personal and professional growth and inspires and catalyses initiatives, that contribute to global sustainability. Students on Ice is driven by a passion for the Polar Regions. We believe in the power of connecting youth to nature and fostering within them an appreciation for the planet, themselves and each other. Education is the foundation of the SOI approach and we are dedicated to inspiring and supporting youth and providing them the necessary tools to instil positive change in their communities and around the world. In our core expedition program, SOI takes youth from around the world on life changing journeys to the Polar Regions. We introduce them to a broad spectrum of dialogue related to these regions ranging from arts and culture, history and politics, science and sustainable development, glaciology and climate change, economy, governance and geopolitics and many other polar topics. We engage them in processes of discovery, fact-finding, analysis, synthesis, reflection and idea development. We connect youth to peers, elders, scientists, experts, artists, musicians, photographers, journalists, business and opinion leaders and many others. Throughout their learning experience we support each participant in developing a strong sense of self and a personal paradigm of ability and opportunity.

The Rising Scholars Program is designed to supplement the curricular offerings of middle schools. We want our students to develop skills and self-confidence and to be better prepared for further academic study. We believe in small classes and as much individualized attention as possible. Our purpose is to nurture intellectual growth in a supportive setting. Each Rising Scholars Program student takes two half-morning major courses or one full-morning major course, plus a minor course and sports in the afternoon. Half-morning major courses meet for one hour and 15 minutes, full-morning courses for three hours, Monday through Saturday. For each major course, the student is responsible for at least one hour of out-of-class preparation per day. Minor courses and sports are scheduled four afternoons each week. Each student spends a short period of time for a few days of the summer participating in the work program, performing chores that benefit the community. Each evening except Saturday, a supervised study period is conducted in the dorms. Students prepare for their courses in their rooms or receive special help in the dorm study areas. Specific efforts are made to maintain a quiet atmosphere and to help students develop good study habits.

Students in the College Prep Program take one major course that meets for three hours, Monday through Saturday mornings. Major courses for which students may earn credit have an additional 1.5-hour session during the first half of the afternoon, four days per week. Students taking morning-only major courses take a minor course during the first half of the afternoon, four days per week. Every student also participates in a sport during the second half of the afternoon, four days per week. Students spend a short period of time for a few days of the summer participating in the work program, doing chores that benefit the community. Each evening except Saturday, a supervised study period is conducted in the dorms and the library to help students develop good study habits.

he STARTALK Arabic Summer Academy provides students with an introduction to Modern Standard Arabic and Arab culture. It is designed for students who have never studied Arabic before and begins with an introduction to Arabic sounds and letters. The teaching and learning emphasizes the functional use of Arabic and communication in context through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students acquire enough familiarity with the Arabic language and culture to interact with Arabic speakers at a basic level (Novice Mid to Intermediate Low according to the ACTFL guidelines). The curriculum is based on the methods of the Marhaba! high school Arabic curriculum. Students finish the course with greater curiosity and sensitivity towards the Arabic-speaking world through cultural encounters in classes, co-curricular activities and field trips. In addition to beginning Arabic for students with no prior knowledge of the language, we also offer levels of progressively advancing Arabic for students who have a background in the language or have graduated from previous summers. In these classes, students will increase their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through songs, videos, and other culturally authentic materials. Additionally, these students take on a leadership role in the Academy, both in their own classes and through cross-level cultural club meetings. Students with prior knowledge of Arabic, either from growing up with the language or from other school programs, should contact the Director for placement at the proper level.

CTY’s Intensive Studies is designed for students who are ready for intense college-level course work and accelerated study in specific disciplines. These three-week courses engage students in the same amount of material that would normally be covered in a semester-long college course or a year-long high-school course. CTY’s Intensive Studies courses fall into two categories: special topics courses that are not offered in high school and fast-paced high school courses. Intensive Studies courses explore more sophisticated theoretical material and proceed at a faster pace than do courses in the Academic Explorations program. A number of CTY’s Intensive Studies courses also have prerequisites. Students who thrive within such a focused setting strengthen their critical and analytical thinking skills and have the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge in their chosen fields of study.

CTY’s Academic Explorations consists of enrichment courses that provide students an introduction to topics that are not typically part of the standard middle or high school curriculum. These courses are designed to help students develop analytic and critical thinking skills while immersing them in a specific discipline for three weeks. Academic Explorations courses emphasize a lively exchange of ideas and problem solving; informed discussion rather than lecture is the norm, and students often have opportunities to present their work to the class. In these courses, students engage in a process of discovery as they apply concepts and theories to real world situations and become more informed, learned individuals in the process. Courses in the Academic Explorations program are taught at a level equivalent to an advanced high school or introductory college level course, and most courses do not have prerequisites or require any prior knowledge of a specific topic. As students are exposed to new fields of academic inquiry, they benefit from focused, individualized instruction and from pursuing a subject in-depth with peers who share their interests and abilities.

The courses at CTY-Princeton focus on global issues in the twenty-first century. As they examine topics ranging from war to pandemics to national security, students wrestle with many of the major socio-political challenges of our time. For instance, Human Nature and Technology explores various facets of human nature in relation to our reliance on technology in our everyday lives while Epidemiology deals with AIDS and other infectious diseases within the context of public health. Students in these courses will engage in frank discussions of contemporary issues and will use materials typical of college courses. For example, a film students view may be R-rated, or students may engage topics of a politically sensitive or controversial nature. All course content will be chosen for its academic value, approached from an academic perspective, and taught with guidance and support from the instructors that is sensitive to the age of the students. The Al and Trudy Agress Summer Health Corps Program is an educational hands-on program that gives high school students an opportunity to explore various careers while gaining experience in a hospital setting. The programs runs for six weeks in July and August, and students must be able to participate for the entire program.

Our workshops are held in Harvard’s historic Memorial and Lowell Halls. The learning environment is underscored by its remarkable architecture. Historic and modern landmarks fill the environs of the Old Yard, and trees and sculptures dot the courtyards. The campus provides hundreds of unique spaces for students to work on their scripts, rehearse or simply to relax. The setting, the beautiful New England summer weather, and the abundance of museums, lectures, concerts, and readings all contribute to the students’ experience. Programs include: 3 week film-making workshop, 1 week film-making workshop, 1 week acting for film workshop, 3 week 3D animation workshop.

Yale Young Global Scholars empowers the next generation of leaders by building a global community and designing interdisciplinary programs that foster intellectual curiosity, deepen understanding and inspire creative action across all borders. Yale YGS offers sessions on topics related to math, science, engineering, social entrepreneurship, international affairs, politics, law and economics.

The summer high school medical program curriculum is modeled on actual Penn Medicine first year classes, but redesigned to engage bright high school students who are serious about medical careers. The program exposes you to the basics of medical training while allowing you the opportunity to pursue or discover your passions and interests. Each morning, you will participate in interactive lectures and labs by Penn clinicians on the day’s featured topics, including transplant surgery, emergency medicine, cancer, resuscitation science, kidney disease and sports medicine. he Julian Krinsky Coding Academy is an intensive two-week program developed for high school students aspiring to develop your pre-existing programming skills. Participants in the academy will learn some of the most valuable skills in the industry. During the first week of the program, you will learn the fundamental concepts involved in application development. You'll learn cutting-edge web markup skills in HTML & CSS to design your own web-app. Next, you'll learn to write the JavaScript code necessary to make your application interactive. Upon learning the basics of computational thinking and the anatomy of a web-based application, you will have the skills needed to create your own application. During the second week of the program, you will build a web-based application such as a video player, an online food-ordering system, or another application of your choosing.

Boys State is a program of the American Legion developed from the concept that youth should be offered a better perspective of the practical operation of government: that the individual is an integral part and commensurately responsible for the character and success of his government. As such, it is an activity of high educational value, born of a need for youth training in practical citizenship. At American Legion Boys State, participants are exposed to the rights and privileges, the duties and the responsibilities of a franchised citizen. The training is objective and practical with city, county and state governments operated by the students elected to the various offices. Activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, assemblies, bands, chorus and recreational programs. High school juniors are selected by local American Legion Posts to attend the program.

Our Global Innovator summer trips are preparing the next generation of leaders by combining design thinking, entrepreneurship, creativity and STEM. American Legal Experience - Mock Trial offers high school students a unique opportunity to learn public speaking skills through a concentrated focus on the American judicial system. The adversarial nature of the American legal system places a premium on effective communication and persuasion through well-reasoned arguments. Therefore, our focus on this system provides students with an exciting and challenging medium for the development of speaking skills. Mock Trial participants will work with experienced public speaking instructors and a directing attorney to learn the structure of the court systems, differences between the process of law involved in civil and criminal trials, and most importantly proper methods of the formation and presentation of convincing legal arguments. As part of this learning process, students will be directly exposed to the basics of certain substantive areas of law, including constitutional, criminal and tort law, as well as rules of evidence. This program is held at the University of California, Los Angeles.

You'll participate in all elements of the BCE Honors program while earning six college credits in specially designed writing seminars and workshops taught by English Department faculty. You'll meet published authors, attend local readings, practice writing in place, learn about the writer's life, and work with peers and faculty to produce a chapbook of your writing.

This engaging and creative program is designed to challenge high school students with a strong interest in and talent for mathematics. Students in this program will participate in math courses that are focused on topics outside of what is typically covered in a high school setting but does not require a background in Calculus. Under the guidance and instruction of faculty from the Mathematics Department and supported by graduate students in the field, students will have the opportunity to learn and explore a variety of problem solving skills. Their classroom experience will be supplemented with a Math workshop with an emphasis on collaborative problem solving. Students will also have access to supported evening study sessions. Candidates should be able to complete pre-calculus level work and the teacher recommendation from a Math department teacher at your school should mention if you have any experience with writing proofs. Students without experience in writing proofs are still eligible for the program. Once admitted into the program, Boston College math faculty will provide guidance to students on appropriate courses to take based on application criteria.

Open to rising sophomores, juniors and seniors, the three-week long, non-credit Boston College Challenge allows students to participate in a college experience by participating in University level course work and extra and co-curricular activities on the Boston College campus. The program is designed to allow students to participate in one of a select group of existing college courses and supplement classroom learning with guest speakers, experiential learning activities, and subject related field trips. Broaden your understanding of college major and career options through this fun and engaging program.

Interdisciplinary in approach, in the the Business & Leadership Institute, students will be exposed the foundations of business and will have the opportunity to develop their personal leadership capabilities. This three-week program is focused on providing a solid foundation in core business areas like management, marketing and finance & economics but will also include engagement in areas such as civics, social justice and the role of government to frame business in a larger global and ethical context. Students will have the chance to explore the business major and to develop their leadership styles through interaction with business leaders, class based activities and company visits.

After a week preparing and previewing marine science exploration, campers will board a schooner and set sail as part of the crew! Under the captain and crew’s guidance, you will be at the will of the wind for a five-day, four-night excursion to explore New England’s coastal waters. As a part of the crew, campers will learn how to set sails, steer, plot the ship’s course, and even do daily chores. Campers will also learn how scientists identify fish species, sample water, study plankton, and monitor whale behavior onboard a boat. Examine food webs, life cycles, and the rich biodiversity of the Gulf of Maine, especially the unique ecosystem of Stellwagen Bank! This course is a global treatment of environmental history and the science of natural and man-made disasters. The class presents basic science, along with case studies of past and present events and examines a range of disasters including volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, tsunami, landslides, hurricanes, pandemic diseases, meteorite impacts, and climate change. Class lectures and discussions will highlight the role of science in studying natural disasters and will describe the mechanisms responsible for these phenomena. Trace the transition of our understanding of disasters from religious and superstitious explanations to contemporary scientific accounts.

Students will learn and use equipment and techniques germane to the field of forensics to process and evaluate evidence from mock crime scenes as well as Virtual Crime Cases using actual crimes with actual crime scene photos. Students will employ various diagnostic tests and methods from the sciences of serology, pathology, ballistics, physics, and biochemistry to solve simulated criminal cases. The laboratory experience will invite students to utilize an array of scientific techniques and to confront and deliberate the ethical and legal implications surrounding the application of forensic science in a court of law. Each lab will have an hour of powerpoint lecture of cases followed by 2 hours of laboratory experience analyzing fingerprints, fibers, footprints, hair, blood, tool marks, bullets, glass, etc. Students will take photographs and sketch the various crime scenes.

This two week long, non-credit program is a collaboration between the New England Center for Investigative Reporting and Boston College. It is instructed by award-winning reporters and veteran journalism teachers from NECIR. The program will meet on Boston College’s Chestnut Hill campus and will include trips off campus to conduct interviews. Students will learn valuable journalism skills, explore Boston with new friends from around the country, and build their resumes for college – all while exploring investigative topics related to social justice.

The Reynolds Young Writers Workshop at Denison is an energizing 8-day program for motivated high school students (rising juniors and seniors) who love to write. For over 20 years, the Reynolds Workshop has brought together young writers who are passionate about writing and eager to connect to a close-knit community of writing friends. The workshop is held each June on the beautiful campus of Denison University, a leading liberal arts college, in the village of Granville, Ohio.

Sail Caribbean offers sailing trips to high school and college-age students. These trips incorporate service and learning about SCUBA, sailing and marine biology. Taking charge of a 50-foot yacht brings unimagined freedom and control. It also requires active participation and responsibilities in all aspects of life onboard. Our staff will teach you, keep you safe, and be at your side acting as a guide when needed. But you’ll be leading the way.You’ll rotate and share daily tasks, learn to cook for your crew, take on leadership roles (skipper, mate, navigator among others), keep the yacht clean and ship-shape, make entries to the Ship’s Log, and help to maintain a safe environment. Life onboard provides just the right setting for accomplishing group and personal goals. Our daily meetings offer a valuable forum to learn more about your crewmates, discuss the highs and lows of the day’s events, plan ahead for tomorrow, and of course enjoy a few good jokes.

BAHEC's intensive 6-week summer program provides students with academic enrichment, college preparation, and internships at healthcare sites throughout Boston. BAHEC works with partners at Boston Medical Center, Boston University School of Public Health, Tufts University School of Dentistry, Harvard School of Public Health, and Boston Children's Hospital, among others. BAHEC accepts students entering the 9th to 12th grade. Students must reside in Boston to be eligible to apply for the program. Accepted students receive a stipend to participate in the program.

Young Writers is an intensive two-week workshop for intellectually curious, motivated high-school students who value writing. Our goal is to help students develop their creative and critical abilities with language—to become better, more productive writers and more insightful thinkers. For more than nineteen years, Young Writers has provided a lively, supportive environment where students can stretch their talents, discover new strengths, and challenge themselves in the company of peers who share their interests. Young Writers takes place at Kenyon College, a leading liberal arts college renowned for its tradition of literary study. The program is sponsored by The Kenyon Review, one of the country’s preeminent literary magazines.

The MIT Women's Technology Program (WTP) is a rigorous four-week summer academic and residential experience where female high school students explore engineering through hands-on classes, labs, and team-based projects in the summer after 11th grade . Students attend WTP in either: Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) or Mechanical Engineering (ME).

Each summer, 80 of the world's most accomplished high school students gather at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for the Research Science Institute (RSI). RSI is the first cost-free to students, summer science & engineering program to combine on-campus course work in scientific theory with off-campus work in science and technology research. Participants experience the entire research cycle from start to finish. They read the most current literature in their field, draft and execute a detailed research plan, and deliver conference-style oral and written reports on their findings. RSI scholars first participate in a week of intensive STEM classes with accomplished professors. The heart of RSI is the five week research internship where students conduct individual projects under the tutelage of mentors who are experienced scientists and researchers. During the final week of RSI, students prepare written and oral presentations on their research projects.

he workshop sections are small (12 students). This allows for individual attention to each student and helps to foster the sense of belonging to a supportive learning community in which students can feel comfortable exploring new directions in their writing and thinking. Trusting one's own language and voice, learning to think for oneself and in collaboration with others— these are the qualities and skills that the workshop strives to develop. Each weekday consists of three 90-minute sessions organized as writing and discussion seminars. Workshop leaders write with their students, and there is frequent sharing of this informal writing, both in small groups and in the class as a whole. Discussions of assigned readings—mostly contemporary poems, stories, and essays—is informal and speculative. The emphasis isn't on arriving at a “correct answer” but on exploring various ideas about what a text is saying. The texts also frequently serve as starting points and models for students’ own creative writing exercises. These daily activities are complemented by evening assignments in reading, revising, and journal writing.

Cherubs is more than a journalism camp. From high schools around the world, we come to Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois, just outside of Chicago. We immerse ourselves in media for five weeks. We study writing, reporting and editing for print, digital and broadcast. We make lifelong friends. The Experiment in International Living provides summer abroad programs for high school students who want to connect deeply and engage meaningfully with the richness and complexities of another country. Participants explore the host country through hands-on experiences in local communities and through the lens of a specific theme. Programs are designed to equip participants not only with essential cultural skills, college prep skills, and, in many cases, language skills, but also with a deeper awareness of and sensitivity to critical global issues shaping the diverse communities and regions we visit. The program offers a diverse variety of programs in Argentina, China, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador and the Galapagos, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Skidmore Jazz Institute is one of the premiere programs to study jazz in the summer. Since 1987 the Institute has provided the opportunity for intermediate and advanced young musicians to learn in an intimate and supportive environment. Director Todd Coolman leads a faculty of gifted educators and world-class performers gathered from around the country. Students work closely with faculty in daily combo rehearsals, private lessons and improvisational and special classes. Our Faculty Septet performs in our evening Concert Series along with invited Guest Artists. Afternoon master classes offer additional opportunities to learn from these master musicians. The student combos perform on Friday afternoons, and on the weekend everyone attends the Freihofer's Jazz Festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

The New York State Writers Institute in conjunction with the Office of the Dean of Special Programs at Skidmore College is pleased to announce the 19th annual creative writing workshop for high school students. The New York State Summer Young Writers Institute will be held at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York from June 27 to July 9, 2017. Participants in the Summer Young Writers Institute receive instruction in poetry, fiction, and dramatic writing (screenwriting, playwriting, and dramatic monologue) and engage in the critical evaluation of each other’s work. By bringing top high school student writers together to work extensively with professional writers, the Institute provides young artists with recognition, respect, opportunities for artistic development, and peer support.

Skidmore College will offer an intensive workshop for pre-professional and professional dancers led by Stephen Petronio and Company. Students will have the unique opportunity to train and perform under the guidance of this master choreographer and his company while enjoying Skidmore’s facilities and the Saratoga Springs community in upstate New York.

The Decoda | Skidmore Chamber Music Institute enables young musicians to explore leadership and community service through the intensive study of chamber music. Under the guidance of Decoda artists, students will learn how to fully engage their audiences and communities through interactive chamber music performances while improving their own performance and public speaking skills. Summer Scholars participants spend two intense weeks in one of the programs of study listed below. We keep the classes small and the personal attention from Notre Dame faculty high. The coursework is both rigorous and rewarding. Students will complete work for their track outside designated class times, as they would in any college setting. Yet there is ample time to enjoy the social facets of college life, especially those unique to Notre Dame. The Visual Arts Summer Institute offers high school students an intensive four-week visual arts program modeled on the freshman foundation program at the Boston University School of Visual Arts. Whether preparing portfolios for college admission or simply working to improve their technical abilities, students are introduced to a full range of materials and methods used in professional artistic practice. VASI students follow a rigorous curriculum that includes drawing, painting, sculpture, new media and printmaking, and all students are provided with individual studio spaces. The VASI faculty is drawn from the faculty of the School of Visual Arts and is comprised of committed artists who are exceptional teachers. In addition to classes and studio time, students visit and study works of art in area museums, participate in special workshops, and experience summer in Boston. Students earn three college credits at the program’s completion.

Coming to the Language Villages for a summer language immersion program is just like entering a new country. You’ll get your Village passport stamped at customs, receive your cabin assignment, and help us determine your language proficiency (don’t worry—no experience required!). This camp offers immersive language learning experiences and is located in northern Minnesota.

Under the guidance of professional dancers and college interns, sixteen teen-age apprentices will create a 45-minute dance performance and go “on tour” to day camps in the Greater Boston area. Students hone their technical, performance, and choreographic skills during the first three weeks; for the next two weeks, the “company” performs and leads workshops at a dozen Associated Grantmakers’ Summer Fund sites. In addition, there are master classes, an evening performance for the public, and an informational session on preparing for college admission. Scholarships are available. Admission is by audition and recommendation.

The Boston University Summer Theatre Institute is a five-week conservatory experience for highly motivated high school theatre artists. Designed to mirror the freshman BFA experience within the School of Theatre at Boston University, the Institute allows all participants the opportunity to test their interests and abilities in a professional training environment. Students earn 4 college credits for their coursework in acting, design, voice, singing, and stage combat, as well as master classes, experimental theatre laboratories, and the creation of an original piece of theatre with members of their ensemble. Throughout the five-week program, students engage with Boston University, the professional artistic community in Boston, and the city’s historic and cultural offerings. Students graduate from BUSTI having honed their technique, depth of intellectual and artistic questioning, playfulness in collaboration, and ability to tell a dynamic story through the theatrical medium.

Experience one of the most challenging and rewarding opportunities for rising Junior and Senior high school artists and designers. During the remote version of the Pre-College Art and Design Residency program, focus will continue to be on academic rigor and personal creative growth, as well as experience practicing with a college level curriculum (2 college credits are earned upon completion of program). The program is a combination of live instruction, independent studio time, and a variety of community events, workshops and artist talks. Students will receive ongoing support and feedback from MICA faculty and Undergraduate teaching assistants, as well as build a community of peer support through critiques and collaboration.

Work with a community on global issues such as community development, migration of people, the environment, children’s rights, or education. This program offers service opportunities in Ghana, South Africa, China, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

The Summer Academy offers a variety of studio, seminar and field experiences, extracurricular activities and field trips, allowing students to understand architecture as a possible area of college study, and as a career. Participants gain a broader view of the field while developing skills and portfolio materials to add to their applications to professional school. Boston University Tanglewood Institute (BUTI) offers programs for all orchestral instruments, voice, piano, and composition, ranging in duration from two to six weeks. The summerFAB program bridges and connects thinking of architecture with making architecture. Students experience in a short timeframe all phases of a complete architectural project--from initial design concepts through development and refinement and including realization as a full-scale construction on a site. By intertwining thinking and making in the process of design from beginning to end, we convey an understanding, crucial for designers, that making is a form of thinking.

Explore Engineering is a one-week residential summer program for current high school sophomores and juniors. During this exciting week at the University of Connecticut Storrs Campus participants explore engineering careers by working in small groups with faculty and college students. They will learn what various engineers do in the workplace and see engineering concepts demonstrated. During the evenings, through the YESS Program, students focus on a single engineering discipline by fabricating a discipline-specific device. The week wraps up with demonstrations of items the students created during the week.

SCAD Summer Seminars offer workshops in Atlanta, Savannah and Hong Kong for high school students who have completed their freshman, sophomore or junior years. (Secondary school students ages 14-19 are able to participate in SCAD Summer Seminars Hong Kong.) Students gain valuable educational experience while developing their creative vision through exciting art and design assignments and projects. Students attend workshops and have an all-access pass to the university’s extensive facilities, resources and libraries. Workshops may include demonstrations, lectures, studio work and local field trips, and are taught by SCAD professors, alumni or select graduate students. To provide maximum individual attention and collaborative interaction between students and instructors, class size is small, with generally 15 or fewer students in each workshop. Organized daily social and cultural activities create an authentic experience of life as a SCAD student in the city.

Brush away the dirt to uncover a piece of ancient pottery—and be the first person to touch that artifact in a thousand years. Work alongside archaeologists, learning from them as you dig, map, and document your finds. Every summer at Crow Canyon, teens join our research team in southwestern Colorado, helping to discover the history of the ancestral Pueblo Indians (Anasazi) of the Mesa Verde region. At this academic/science camp, high school students learn excavation and lab techniques, then work alongside our archaeologists. You’ll dig at an archaeological site inhabited by ancestral Pueblo people more than 1,000 years ago. You’ll also wash, catalog, and analyze ancient artifacts in the lab. It's an authentic, hands-on introduction to archaeology at the pre-college level. At archaeology camp you'll also learn about American Indian cultures, past and present. Explore the cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. And try your hand at ancient technologies, like weaving, throwing wooden spears with an atlatl, and making fire with a bow drill.

For over twenty years, the University of Dallas has provided high school students with summer and study abroad opportunities modeled after its signature Rome program. These programs offer college credit and are held on our main campus in Irving, TX and sister campus in Rome, Italy, and are designed to show students the great and lasting pleasures that accompany a good educational experience. Our summer programs reflect the core curriculum of the university, much of which is devoted to the careful reading of the great works in the tradition of western thought. Students examine the history, art, urban development, and language of Barcelona, enriching their understanding of how European communities develop local, regional, national, and international identities. Students share a common three-course curriculum taught in English, supplemented by a Spanish-language workshop. University of Barcelona faculty members teach the courses. Academic work breaks out of the classroom and into the city itself as classes visit sites of historical and cultural relevance throughout Barcelona. Additionally, two days are devoted to visiting important sites outside of the city.

This program combines substantive reading and coursework with firsthand experience in an Arab country. Students live and study at King's Academy in Manja, Jordan, and travel extensively throughout Jordan with a variety of local guides and organizations. Participants emerge with a working knowledge of the history and cultures of the modern Arab world, phrases in conversational Arabic, valuable skills applicable in any academic context, and unforgettable experiences of life in Jordan.

The Irish Way (A Program of the Irish American Cultural Institute) is a 25-day cultural academic program offered to American and Canadian high school students. The High School Program consists of a wide variety of classes, workshops, and tours based in three locations throughout Ireland. The goal of the Irish Way High School Program is to introduce North American students to the essential characteristics and qualities of Irish life. By being immersed in Ireland’s history and culture, young adults are able to better understand and appreciate a country whose people have played a significant role in the history of western civilization.

The Knowledge Exchange Institute offers summer academic programs and internships all over the world. Additionally, the offer school-year options as well. Locations include: Australia, China, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, France, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Tanzania, Turkey, Thailand, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Teenagers in our Alpine Exploration (AE) program are given the opportunity to explore and discover through morning classes, afternoon activities and evening socials. Subjects offered are more in- depth and age-appropriate. Exploring their environment through excursions, they can also make this a more memorable summer by participating in a cultural trip, supervised by SIS Staff, to a European destination with their new SIS friends. For the morning academic program, students can choose classes from within a single stream, or they can explore new areas of study by taking classes from multiple streams. Either way, we are confident that students will find much to explore. Trip is 3 weeks without the cultural trip option, 4 weeks with the European destination trip.

Our oldest age group, Alpine Challenge (AC), lives at our beautiful Belle Époque Campus. With its sweeping panoramic view, the Belle Époque has dorm rooms for boys and girls in separate wings as well as the Grande Salle ballroom, The Cave student lounge, an art studio, workout room and classrooms. Students in our AC program can challenge themselves academically in one of our five streams, or they can select classes from different streams to provide a broader experience. Classes in the AC program are designed to challenge students’ thinking skills and stimulate their curiosity.

Spoleto Study Abroad Summer Session is a hands-on immersion program in the arts and humanities for high school students, ages 15-19, interested in vocal music, chamber music, visual arts, photography, drama, filmmaking, and creative writing. This is an experience that will appeal to the high school student serious about art, humanities and gaining a worldly perspective. Our program offers students who wish to grow academically, artistically and personally an opportunity to step into the cultural and artistic heritage of the Italian Renaissance. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with talented faculty and motivated peers from around the world. In addition to developing their artistic talent in the enriching hands-on studio workshops and classes, students will take twice-weekly day trips to cities in Umbria and Tuscany. Living and studying in an environment rich with history, art and natural beauty can be profoundly transformative for a student of the arts. Subject areas include: chamber music, drama, creative writing, vocal music, visual arts, film making and photography.

Notre Dame Leadership Seminars explore topics affecting the global community. The courses are centered around vibrant discussion and a robust exchange of ideas. This creates a context in which students are encouraged to examine their own conclusions and hone their own leadership capacities by improving their communications and analytical skills. Expenses for students accepted to Leadership Seminars—including transportation to and from Notre Dame—will be paid for by the University. Approximately 100 students are admitted to Leadership Seminars each year, and students are eligible to receive one college credit upon completion of the program. Since 1999, LBW has brought students from six continents and nearly every state to the Wharton School.

The Summer Leaders Experience (SLE) application is currently closed and will reopen next January for high school juniors. SLE is highly competitive since there are normally 6,000 applicants and just 1,000 attendees. SLE gives high school juniors a week to experience life as a cadet to inform their college selection decision. SLE is a fast-paced program of academic classes, military training, physical fitness training, and intramural athletics conducted during the month of June each year. You must have standardized test scores to be considered for SLE. In addition to academics students will also take part in daily military training including: Physical Training, Weapons Familiarization, Obstacle Courses, Leadership Reaction Course and Athletic and Social Experience. You'll enjoy a lot of social interaction including intramural sports and social events where you'll get to know fellow SLE attendees and West Point cadets. The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar offers the opportunity for rising high school seniors to visit the Naval Academy for one week during the summer. The Summer Business Institute (SBI) program is LEAD’s longest running Summer Institute and is considered the “flagship” program. The SBI program exposes scholars to business principles and the skill sets needed for successful business careers. The program challenges them through applied learning experiences often facilitated by college professors, links scholars to corporate executives in business fields and peers with similar aspirations and abilities. During LEAD SBIs, scholars reside and attend classes on-campus at a select number of the nation’s top business schools for three or four weeks. SBIs provide diverse, high-achieving rising high school seniors the opportunity to explore finance, entrepreneurship, accounting and marketing, among other business sectors. The goal of the SBI is to expose scholars early in their academic development to the innumerable career opportunities in business. The program equips them with knowledge and expertise from our nation’s leading universities and corporations, empowering LEAD scholars to confidently make better informed decisions when choosing their university and career. The High School Health Careers Program (HSHCP) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) was initiated in the 1970’s with the goal of increasing the number of students entering (BBHP). The program targets Massachusetts high school sophomores and juniors from groups that are under-represented in BBHP and/or disadvantaged backgrounds. This program encourages participants to work smart; improve study, communication and time management skills; graduate from high school; and prepare for college. This four-week residential program provides the participants with an integrated academic enrichment curriculum in Science/Biology, Mathematics, English, Communication Skills and Information Technology. Field trips reinforce the science curriculum. Participants are required to complete a Health Disparities Research Project on a cultural group in Massachusetts. Participants meet health care professionals and scientists through their assigned observer/internships and Cultural Contemporary Health Issues seminars. Program evaluation instruments include standardized pre-tests and post-tests. These tests are the Cognitive Abilities Test that measures developmental and cognitive abilities in verbal, quantitative and non-verbal areas; and the Nelson-Denny Reading Comprehension Test that measures vocabulary, reading comprehension, and reading rate. Instructors and internship hosts provide written evaluations of the participants’ level of engagement within their individual classrooms and departments. Participants are required to complete an anonymous post-program survey evaluation.

Students in Community of Scholars enroll in a rigorous 3-credit college class that blends a week of online learning with two weeks of traditional on-campus classes. Students in Skidmore’s Pre-College Program who choose to take one or two art courses will have the opportunity to participate in a five-week creative experience building skills and vocabulary in the visual arts to help them find their voices as artists. Our intensive studio art session offers both traditional and cutting-edge courses to help students connect inventive techniques and imaginative ideas. The Pre-College students will take classes in the Saisselin Art Building, Skidmore’s excellent studio art facility, and also take part in the summer studio art special programming, with visiting artists, museum visits, and a final student exhibition open to the public, family and friends. The Wake Forest Summer Immersion Program is a hands-on learning experience offered on-campus and online. High school students dive deep into a field of study with access to world-class faculty, researchers, and industry professionals.

If you are at least a sophomore in high school, you have an opportunity this summer to travel back in time to discover early America in a unique hands-on way. For three weeks this summer, students from all sections of the country will pursue the intertwined, often tempestuous stories of Native Americans, Europeans, Africans, and their descendants by visiting the places where they lived, observing the things they touched, and immersing themselves in the saga of early American life as told by historians, archaeologists, and museum professionals. Sound intriguing? Come join us! Participants in the W&M Pre-College Program are enrolled as non-degree seeking students at the College of William & Mary. They earn 4 academic credits taking one of two history courses: HIST 217 or HIST 218. They live together in an air-conditioned dormitory on the College of William and Mary campus and take their meals in campus dining facilities. Tuition, dorm room, and meals are all covered in the cost of the program. Only Pre-College Program participants reside in the dorm, which is supervised at all times by Resident Program Assistants (RPAs). Young Women's Leadership Institute participants should be curious, passionate, and willing to take risks. The Young Women's Leadership Institute will allow you to develop those qualities and push you in new directions as you explore leadership through a feminist lens. You will have a unique opportunity to learn from college faculty and staff, current students, alumnae, and other professional facilitators. Reading and writing assignments, along with off-campus site visits in New York City, will all be part of your experience.

The MIT Women's Technology Program (WTP) is a rigorous four-week summer academic and residential experience where female high school students explore engineering through hands-on classes, labs, and team-based projects in the summer after 11th grade .

Project SMART is a Summer Institute at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) that challenges, educates, and motivates talented high school students in science and mathematics while acquainting them with the environment and resources of the University as a place for higher education and research.

PROMYS is a six-week summer program at Boston University designed to encourage strongly motivated high school students to explore in depth the creative world of mathematics in a supportive community of peers, counselors, research mathematicians, and visiting scientists. Professor Glenn Stevens, the Director of PROMYS, founded the program in 1989 together with other members of the current faculty.

SummerLab provides students with an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of basic techniques and concepts associated with biotechnology and DNA science. This is a hands-on, laboratory-based program during which students work cooperatively in laboratories at the Boston University School of Medicine.

A residential, on-campus summer program for high school students, Frontiers is celebrating more than 30 years of challenging participants to explore the outer limits of their knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with current laboratory techniques and exploring unsolved problems across a wide spectrum of disciplines. Frontiers participants will be utilizing state-of-the-art technology and facilities, and enjoy added activities such as evening workshops, field trips, movies, live performances, and tournaments. Throughout each session, teens will focus on one STEM discipline and enroll in one humanities workshop of their choice. Learn from WPI professors and graduate students while using experimental, analytical, and computer technology.

The College of Engineering at the University of Notre Dame would like to introduce you to the world of opportunities available in engineering. For two intensive weeks, while living on campus at Drexel University, you'll experience what it's like to study architecture in college. You'll attend classes taught by Drexel Architecture faculty members in studios and computer labs used by Drexel architecture students. You'll go on field trips to significant architectural sites in Philadelphia, hear lectures by distinguished speakers, and, working closely with an instructor, you'll try your hand at architectural design. Our program will introduce you to this fascinating profession. During the summer, while Drexel architecture students are on vacation, we're opening their studio and other facilities to a group of high school students who want to experience what education and work are like in the field of architecture. You will visit prominent architectural offices and meet architects on the job. You'll have a chance to see first-hand the types of projects architects work on, how they go about it, and the environment of an architectural office. With the historic city of Philadelphia at your doorstep, you'll be practically living in an architectural classroom. Almost every day you'll explore some part of the city. You'll discover magnificent buildings, squares, parks, and museums. And along the way you'll also see Philadelphia's traditional houses and neighborhoods, learn about its history, and tune into the rhythms of city life.

These summer online courses encourage students entering grades 9-12 to pursue their passions and connect with classmates and a teacher from many different schools, all while not being tied to a single location. Designed to cover the same material and be as rigorous as our semester and yearlong courses, GOA summer courses are teacher-paced, mostly asynchronous online courses that focus on students applying course concepts to relevant, real world issues. Students should anticipate a significant amount of active learning: conducting interviews, engaging their location and community, doing research, and collaborating on projects. While these courses are online, students do not spend all of their work time looking at a computer. Schedule: Monday, June 18-Friday, August 3 (seven weeks) GOA courses are both interactive (students will be required to log in multiple times a week to participate in discussions and collaborate on projects) and intensive (students should anticipate spending 10-12 hours a week on coursework, including a weekly video chat). INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURE OVERSEAS Rome is a living laboratory for exploring architecture, landscape architecture and urban planning. Studying the city’s morphology from the time of the Caesars to the modern MAXXI museum offers lessons on the built environment. This immersion imbues in future designers and builders the understanding of sustainable development. PROGRAM PURPOSE To explore the built environment from a holistic perspective through site visits, seminars and a design assignment. Graduates of this program have been accepted into top undergraduate architecture programs.

The Future Latino Leaders Law Camp is designed to provide Latino high school students like you with the opportunity to learn more about the legal profession. This year, the Law Camp will take place from July 7-15, 2018, in Washington, D.C. All participants will stay on the George Washington University Thurston Hall campus and be chaperoned by adult law school students and HNBF staff. Throughout the week, students will engage in workshops on leadership and receive legal instruction in preparation for the Mock Trial. Students will have the opportunity to meet with lawyers, judges, and officials of the United States government and learn about their career paths.

The Youth in Philanthropy Summer Institute is designed for middle and high school students who are looking to make an impact in their community. This fun, five-day summer program empowers students to be active community members. Participants – led by trained instructors – learn how to evaluate local nonprofit organizations, conduct site visits to area nonprofits, and work as a team to award a grant to the nonprofit of their choice. Expert guest speakers attend sessions to help students explore philanthropy and gain real-world skills including how to create a résumé, manage personal budgets, and confidently present in front of others. Throughout the YIP Summer Institute, participants discover a keen awareness of their own potential and develop the skills necessary to become successful leaders. We're offering 12 courses on our 2018 summer school, which you'll study in groups of around 6 students. Each course is designed and taught by one of our expert post-graduate tutors, all of whom have studied at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Our summer school gives you the chance to study your subject far beyond the school curriculum, and experience the style of teaching which makes Oxford and Cambridge the top universities in the world. You'll study in 90-minute morning seminars, and at the end of each week you'll produce a piece of work and have a 1-1 tutorial with your tutor to discuss this. THE SUMMER BUSINESS ACADEMY IS A WEEK-LONG COURSE DESIGNED TO TEACH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS THE ESSENTIALS OF BUSINESS LEADERSHIP AND THE PATHWAY TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN THE ENVIRONMENT OF A COLLEGIATE CAMPUS. WITH A COMPREHENSIVE CURRICULUM CONCENTRATED IN FIVE DAYS, SBA WILL GIVE STUDENTS THE KNOWLEDGE, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE WORKINGS OF BUSINESS AS WELL AS CREATE A BUSINESS OF THEIR OWN, BUILDING UP TO A BUSINESS PITCH COMPETITION AT THE END OF THE WEEK.

ArcStart is a three-week long residential program for high school students that offers students the opportunity to explore the built environment firsthand through an introduction to architectural design. Participants will experience the rewarding intensity of an engaging college architecture studio, partake in skill-building workshops that reinforce analytical and conceptual problem solving skills, and visit architecturally significant projects in Ann Arbor and the immediate region. Over the course of the program, students will witness how a design education prepares students to engage the world around them within the context of a rigorous academic setting at a leading design institution. Students will engage in thought provoking discussions that challenge their understanding of architectural design and push them to think more broadly about space and the built environment. The curriculum is aimed at introducing and enhancing a wide variety of skill sets including hand drawing, model making, diagramming, photography, and sketching. Students will employ a variety of digital and analog tools to aid in the design process of their own projects and will also be introduced to the possibilities of advanced 2D and 3D modeling and printing facilities at the college's advanced Digital Fabrication Lab.

Draper’s High School Internship Program provides high school students the opportunity to apply their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to real-world problems having open-ended components, design constraints, and specified deliverables. The program is a six-week, paid summer research internship for rising juniors and seniors (students must be 16 years of age or older) from July through August. Teams of three to four students work on defined projects under the supervision of a Draper engineer or scientist. Upon completion of the internship, the teams present their results to members of their engineering group, fellow students, and other invited guests from within Draper. Although the program focuses on laboratory work, students have the opportunity to attend Draper scientific seminars and presentations. Students tour a number of different labs within the organization over the summer.

OneSeed Innovation Labs are 2-week, international summer learning experiences for high school students entering their junior or senior year. OneSeed Labs are designed to immerse students in the unfamiliar and to encourage them to think critically about the world around them. Students will learn the basics of Design Thinking and develop skill sets (and mindsets) to solve difficult problems using entrepreneurial methodology. This hands-on approach provides a unique opportunity to learn about and explore a new country, and to step outside of one’s comfort zone whether that's interviewing a local business owner or trekking through the Himalayan mountains.

A hands-on summer camp for fashion-forward teens who are fascinated by all things style, design, and branding. Project Fashion’s holistic approach and experiential learning makes it unlike any other summer camp.

PreCollege is immersive, rigorous, and FUN. All students are enrolled in a full-time program of immersions in the majors as well as courses in art and design fundamentals. Expect to experiment, take risks, push yourself and make mistakes. You will strengthen your ability to think critically and creatively. Each year, the Ringling College of Art and Design is able to provide a limited number of partial need-based grants. We do not offer portfolio scholarships, but do weigh your application statement and teacher recommendations heavily when reviewing applications for assistance. Grants range from $500 up to $3500, and are rarely available to cover the full cost of the program. We encourage students and their families to seek additional, alternative sources for scholarships, including your local community foundations, arts councils or museums, and other philanthropic organizations.

Summer Discovery is a pre-college enrichment program for high school and middle school students that combine academics with fun, activities, and sports. Courses are taught by university faculty. Students experience college life while gaining independence, self-confidence, and social skills. For 53 years, we’ve helped more than 100,000 students learn and grow. We can't wait for you to join us. Summer Discovery provides scholarship assistance to students and their families through many different channels. Additionally, we offer 2 Merit Scholarships for partial tuition in the amount of $2,000 each for students with a minimum GPA of 3.6. CyberMath Academy offers after-school courses and camps in Math, Coding and Robotics for students in grades K-12. Most of these courses aim to provide a foundation for students in Math and Computer Science, which will be essential for their future success no matter what career they chose. CyberMath Academy differs from most of the other learning centers and tutoring companies who are primarily concerned with answering the students’ immediate questions and helping with daily school homework and not concerned with providing the students with basic problem-solving skills for future applications. This system seeks to provide the students with a solid foundation and skills necessary to develop Math and Mathematical applications. For over 35 years, the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College has hosted an annual summer conference bringing leading historians and public audiences together for battlefield tours, small group discussions, lectures, and roundtable conversations about the Civil War era. Sessions, lodging, and meals are held on the 200-acre college campus. In addition to touring the Gettysburg battlefield, participants will have the opportunity to visit a variety of other nearby battlefields and historic sites on tours that will explore Antietam, northern Virginia’s Mosby country, Stonewall Jackson’s leadership at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville, and more. This conference will continue the recently added Saturday evening tours of the Gettysburg battlefield and town, as well as both “lunch-in” and “dine-in” discussions with CWI faculty.

Young Writers Workshop provides an in-depth introduction to all four genres of creative writing: fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and writing for stage and screen. Modeled on Gettysburg College’s highly successful gateway course, Introduction to Creative Writing, and taught by the college's own senior faculty in creative writing, Young Writers Workshop offers a constantly engaging, hands-on experience in how to write and how to talk about writing. We believe talent can be taught! Developing writers need technique and inspiration. This is why we, at Gettysburg College Summer Young Writers Workshop, have created an intellectual and physical space for high school students to gather around texts, to study with publishing writers, to learn the art of inspiration, and to write and perform their own work with new friends and peers.

The goal of Camp Psych is to provide a window into how psychological science works . What are some of the major questions investigated by psychologists? Campers will get hands-on experiences that introduce them to research in psychology in a fun, challenging, and engaging environment. Campers will not simply learn about cutting edge issues and research in psychology; they will engage in research themselves . Perfect for students interested in psychology, this camp gives students an insider view of the field as well as preparation for college studies .

3D OBJECT MODELING & PRINTING Campers will learn the process of 3D printing from initial design to final print. They will utilize their creativity to design and build multiple objects, including their own miniature city. This is a novice level course with no previous 3D object modeling or printing knowledge needed. CODING FOR ROBOTICS & ELECTRONICS Campers will gain hands-on experience in coding, wiring, hardware, and building robots through the open source software and hardware system known as Arduino. This camp is an introduction into the world of coding robotics and electronics.

During the four-week program, the students attend lectures and engage in discussions at Spelman, in the Atlanta University Center, and at the High Museum of Art while making site visits to other locations in Atlanta and the region. The young women will reside in dormitory housing at Spelman College while the young men will reside in dormitory housing at Morehouse College. After successful completion of this co-educational program, rising juniors and seniors in high school will receive a Spelman College transcript verifying that they have earned three (3) credits in Art History and Curatorial Studies. The rigorous syllabus is modeled on several Spelman College courses: Understanding Visual Arts Ways of Seeing: Pyramids to Cathedrals Ways of Seeing: Medieval to Modern Art African American Art Mining the Museum Seminar in Curatorial Practice During the first week, students learn about the definitions of art, the methods of art history and the mission of museums. This foundational week is important as it creates a common vocabulary and shared experience for students who already have a favorite artist or museum as well as those who are just discovering art, art history, and museum exhibitions. The cohort is brought together through a curiosity about how art and visual culture is created, how it reflects what it means to be human, and the institutions and people who caretake these creative treasures. Reading assignments will be drawn from several college-level textbooks. Supplementary texts like Sylvan Barnet’s "A Short Guide to Writing About Art" will be utilized alongside peer-reviewed websites as smarthistory.org

The School of Fashion Design's pre-college workshops in fashion design for high school students. Beginner and advanced levels available. SFD Teen Fashion Clinics are divided into two sections: 1. Fashion Art: color & design, figure drawing, fashion sketching, portfolio presentation; and 2. Fashion Design: clothing construction, pattern manipulation, fabric selection, sewing fundamentals, pressing, and finishing. SFD TEEN FASHION CLINICS ARE EXCLUSIVELY FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS Who may be considering a career objective of professional fashion design; Who want to explore aspects of fashion design, or explore their interests and talents in fashion before committing to a full college program; Whose high school program may not include art and/or sewing classes; Who may want/need to formulate (for possible college or job applications) a portfolio of both fashion drawings and sewing projects; Who are simply be interested in fashion design as an avocation (hobby, craft, relaxation, etc.); TUITION: $850 payable in full at least one full week before start of session.

The Cornerstone Summer Institute is a week-long summer camp at the University of Virginia where high school students learn about slavery and its legacies by exploring the University, Charlottesville, and area landmarks. The camp provides rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors with the opportunity to engage in historical investigation, archaeological excavation, and community engagement in order to learn and develop thinking skills that will prepare them for success in college and beyond. Designed by members of the University of Virginia President’s Commission on Slavery and the University, the institute encourages critical thinking while students learn about both the University’s past and the modern-day legacies of slavery. Students explore the early history of the University by getting hands-on experience with archival records, by rolling up their sleeves on an archaeological dig where enslaved people lived and worked, and by learning–through community engagement–how the U.Va. story had an impact on the surrounding area. Students, in addition to collegiate skill-building, get the full U.Va. experience–living in dorms, eating in dining halls, meeting new friends, and exploring the Jefferson-designed school.

How many students get the chance to produce their own film, learn how to code in python, tour major media hubs in Miami, all while earning six college credits? The University of Miami’s Summer Scholars program gives high school sophomores and juniors the opportunity to explore their passion and consider their career opportunities while experiencing college in an authentic environment. Limited Scholarship Opportunities are available for students who qualify. To be considered, eligible applicants must complete both the Summer Scholars application and the scholarship application and submit supporting documents by the March 1 deadline. Students who meet the requirements for our need-based scholarship may also qualify for application fee reduction waivers. We offer two NYC Fashion Summer Camps for high school students. They are designed for teens entering 9th through 12th grades. Each week-long session will teach the students the fundamentals of the fashion industry by providing an insider's perspective. The students will stay at the LIM College Residence Hall on the Upper Eastside. Each morning the group will be picked up at the dorm by a Banson NYC representative. From there we will depart for our industry visits, seminars and activities of the day. Each evening will have group activities planned. Enrollment is limited to 20 campers per session. We accept applications on a first come, first served basis. The NYC Fashion Summer Camp allows students interested in fashion the opportunity to get a jumpstart on their career aspirations by determining if this is the direction that they want to pursue. During the tour they might meet a fashion designer in his/her studio, get an in-depth tour of one of the world's most recognized premium lifestyle brands, have a private tour of a premier specialty/department store before it opens to the public or visit a mega fabric store that is actively involved in the latest reality television programs like Project Runway.

Founded in 1999, The Pace University Summer Scholars Institute is an intensive two week learning and living program designed for rising (High School) Juniors and Seniors eager to experience first hand what college is all about. Located on our newly renovated New York City campus situated just steps away from Wall Street, Little Italy, Chinatown, and the Brooklyn Bridge, the Institute offers a rigorous and challenging program of study for students in five possible fields of study (“tracks”) at a surprisingly affordable tuition. These five tracks are Theatre Arts, Business, Psychology, Digital Film Production, and Criminal Justice. The ACLU Summer Advocacy Program will bring together a diverse group of high school students (ages 15-18) from across the United States to participate in a week-long, firsthand learning experience for the next generation of social justice advocates. There is no fee to apply. High School Summer Study and Travel programs offer rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors the opportunity to earn three college credits from Hillsdale College while traveling to cultural and historic destinations domestic and abroad. Two-week travel courses begin with time on campus studying with Hillsdale College faculty, after which study continues on site.

The AI4All @ Carnegie Mellon summer program provides opportunities for students from underrepresented communities to study artificial intelligence with full-time faculty, staff and researchers who are leaders in the field. There is a diversity crisis in AI and computer science: a homogenous group of technologists are building AI solutions for a diverse population. The global economic impact of AI is expected to reach $15.7 trillion by 2030, but less than 14% of AI researchers globally are women, and Black and Hispanic men and women make up less than 11% of people employed in U.S. STEM jobs. This lack of diversity results in biased AI products that, at best, don’t serve everyone. At worst, they actively harm underrepresented groups. It's crucial to take action to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to guide the creation of AI as a tool for good. AI4ALL is a U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusion in AI education, research, development and policy. One way they accomplish that is by offering summer programs at 11 universities across the nation, including Carnegie Mellon. The program is free, and students reside on campus, where they are immersed in hands-on learning, and develop a supportive peer network that will help them throughout their AI careers.

The Computer Science Scholars (CSS) program provides students who are from traditionally underrepresented communities in the field of Computer Science an opportunity to receive exposure to computing and additional computer science pre-requisites. UNC Asheville’s Pre-College Programs introduce high school students to college-level study, university life, and career options in a dynamic learning environment. Each one-week program offers deep immersion into an academic topic, challenging activities, and the opportunity to engage with industry professionals. Format: Pre-College Programs run from Sunday to Friday, and each day is filled with both classroom and recreational activity. All programs include hands-on learning and projects, and many programs will feature off-campus excursions. All students live on campus to fully experience university life and the surrounding community. Eligibility: Pre-College Programs are open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Programs will follow COVID protocols and community expectations will continue through the program. Living on Campus: Double occupancy in a shared suite. Residence halls are air-conditioned. Meals will be in Brown Dining Hall. Tuition: Programs start at $1,350 and include lodging, meals, all course materials, activities, and excursions.

ROAR Academy is a rigorous and intensive two-week program for high school students who have demonstrated an aptitude for academic and professional careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects. Talented and motivated high school students who are entering 10th-12th grade in the Fall have the opportunity to work with UC Berkeley faculty, researchers, and scientists while focusing on learning about Python programming and introductory autonomous driving algorithms. The students through this 10-day program will be expected to learn sufficient knowledge to participate in ROAR competition entirely in software simulation, dubbed the S2 series for K-12 students (compared to the current S1 series that includes college students and professional learners). Thanks to ROAR virtualization software and other open-source Python and AI libraries, learners may attend the Academy through online lectures for 2023.

During the three-week program, high school students will explore some of the most innovative spaces in Greater Boston, engage with experts and field leaders, build 21st century skills, and find inspiration to shape their own futures.
